How does an artist’s experiences and perception of the world influence their visual expression? Student learn about Billy Gautheir’s The Earth, Our Mother – a piece in which animal life, landscapes, and faces emerge, telling a multi-part story that holds considerable meaning. The work reflects Gauthier’s relationship to his ancestors, the land, his Inuk heritage, and carries the artist’s appeal for responsible stewardship of the planet for future generations. Students take in an inquiry-based tour of the Level 4 art exhibition and an Investigating and interactive Art activity.

This program is designed for Grade 7-12.
